Storagepost.com recently underwent a major overhaul in focus and functionality. Originally, the site was specifically designed to simply inform visitors about the company and the services that it could provide them. While this was effective, it did not offer an interactive experience to the visitors of the website as there were no utilities incorporated into the site. But then, the emphasis of the site changed from being purely informative to functional. Storagepost.com decided to enter the world of e-commerce an shifted focus of the site to on-line reservations and product purchasing. The site still contains all the informative aspects of the original website but now has a new shopping cart orientated system embedded. Incorporated into the new website are interactive Google maps which give a clear picture of where each facility is located and to generate directions to each facility. Visitors can interact with a slideshow to get a virtual tour of each facility. Finally, the website gives vistors the resource to reserve rooms online and to purchase packaging material to expedite their needs.
To acheive these goals, we developed a database driven website that utilizes an extensive content management system. The content management system provides employees the ability to modify and control information pertaining to the website. Since the CMS is access restricitve, we achieve greater control over who has permission make these modifications. At the most general level, we provide a simply overview of daily operations at any specific facility so that employess can manage online reservations without having to worry about website integrity. Administrators on the other had have the ability to make real-time modifications to the website. When it comes down to it, created a database to store information related to the needs of our client. We developed a graphical user interface to view this information for their clients. Lastly, we built the necessary tools to get the information into the database to make the whole thing work seemlessly.
